Institute is acting as a national repository for tuberculosis
and other pathogenic mycobacteria. All these activities are
being coordinated through a Mycobacterial Repository Centre.
The Institute has established network with 38 medical institutes
all over the Country and provides collaborative support in
characterization of difficult-to-characterize mycobacterial
isolates, molecular epidemiology The Institute has now initiated
programmes on prevention of tuberculosis, surveillance of
drug resistance and combined immunotherapy and chemotherapy
to TB cases. The standard DOTS and these modified regimens
will be/are being given on outdoor basis in Kanpur district.
