This
Unit has been engaged in studies pertaining to the epidemiology
of leprosy in Agra district and has initiated studies on association
of filariasis with leprosy in Ghatampur area.
This
Unit has one core scientist, one research assistant and several
other project staff supporting these research programmes.
Core
scientists :
- Dr.Anil Kumar, Deputy Director heads this
Unit. He is a Ph.D. from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar
and has 21 years of experience in this area and has published
34 papers. He is currently engaged in the studies pertaining
to epidemiology of leprosy in Agra district in collaboration
with medical unit II (Dr.B.K.Girdhar) which aims at investigating
the profile of the disease, its trends and effect of several
regimens. In addition, he has initiated studies on investigating
the association of filariasis with leprosy in Ghatampur
area in collaboration with medical unit I (Dr.Kiran Katoch).
He is a recipient of Prof.P.V.Shukhatme Award.
